ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
David Mark Bradley (b. 1963) is an artist and poet from the United States. In drawings, paintings and words, David’s work asks questions about ancient myths, storytelling, modern corporate culture, diabetes, the food industry, and clouds. What is truth versus propaganda? And how do you represent this when everything (from quantum to macro) is always moving?
Kabbalah, Catholic mysticism, reincarnation, clouds & dreams are inspirations.
David is recognized as an accomplished poet. His books include: Sprig (1990), Bud (1991), A Maggid (1995), and Jesus In Hell (1997). After reading Bud, Pulitzer-prize-winning Annie Dillard wrote, “It’s a wonderful book, poetry and art both. I’m honored to have a part, a small part, in your fine poem, “Candle Flame.”
Several of David’s drawings and paintings may be found in private collections in the U.S. and Europe. His work has been featured at the Museum of Modern Art in New York as well as the Museum of Radio & Television.
Regarding their collaboration on the celebrated Disney Dream Portrait Series, Annie Leibovitz said: “I could not have done this without Max (Jerome) and David (Bradley.)”
David earned a B.A. from Bethel University in Minnesota. At the Art Students League/NYC, he studied painting under Mary Beth McKenzie and at UCLA, painting & drawing under Black Mt. College alumni Arnold Schifrin. He lives in Brooklyn and currently works in New York City as a Creative Director/Writer.
